Preventing Blood Clots in C-Sections

Experts agree that women who have a C-section should be given medication or have compression devices placed on their legs prior to the C-section to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a serious condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein located deep inside the body. This measure assesses a hospital's rate of administering DVT prevention protocols to women undergoing a C-section.
