Lung Resection for Cancer
For early stages of cancer in the lung, surgeons may perform a procedure to try to remove the cancer by removing part of the lung.
This measure assesses the following:
- A hospital's experience performing the procedure against Leapfrog's hospital volume standard of 40 procedures per year and
- Whether the hospital’s process for privileging its surgeons includes requiring the surgeon to meet Leapfrog's annual surgeon volume standard of 15 procedures per year
