Experience of Patients Undergoing Elective Outpatient Surgery
Hospitals that perform same-day procedures, such as hernia repairs and knee arthroscopies, should survey patients on important issues including communication about the procedure, the patient’s rating of the facility and staff, and whether the patient would recommend the facility. This measure assesses the experience of same-day surgical patients using a nationally standardized patient experience survey called the Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery (OAS) Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Survey.
