Cesarean Sections

Experts agree that cesarean sections (C-sections), particularly among low-risk, first-time mothers, may not be necessary and can be actually be risky for mother and baby. Hospitals report on their rate of C-sections for first-time mothers giving birth to a single baby, at full-term, in the head-down position.

  • 01/01/2018 - 12/31/2018 (Surveys submitted prior to September 1, 2019) 
  • 07/01/2018 - 06/30/2019 (Surveys submitted on or after September 1, 2019)

Patients Included in the Measure

  • Inpatients (Patients who are admitted to the hospital for at least one overnight stay)

  • Adults
